Easy Bible・Jeremiah 15
Jeremiah 15:16
When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty.
In this chapter, Jeremiah expresses his deep anguish and frustration to God, lamenting the persecution he faces for delivering God's message. He questions why he was born and why his pain seems never-ending. Despite his despair, Jeremiah finds hope in God's promises of deliverance and restoration. Jeremiah begins by acknowledging God's faithfulness in his call to be a prophet, but then he pours out his heart, expressing his loneliness and sorrow. He feels isolated and rejected by the people he is called to serve. Jeremiah's lament is a raw and honest expression of his emotions, showing that even prophets can struggle with doubts and discouragement. God responds to Jeremiah's lament with reassurance and a reminder of His presence. He encourages Jeremiah to repent and turn back to Him, assuring him that He will be with him and protect him. God also promises to deal with Jeremiah's enemies and bring justice upon them. Despite the difficulties Jeremiah faces, God promises to deliver him and make him a fortified wall against his adversaries.
