Easy Bible・Jeremiah 16
Jeremiah 16:19
O LORD, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in time of distress, to you the nations will come from the ends of the earth and say, "Our fathers possessed nothing but false gods, worthless idols that did them no good.
In this chapter, Jeremiah receives a message from the Lord about the impending judgment that will come upon Judah for their idolatry and disobedience. The Lord instructs Jeremiah not to marry or have children because of the coming destruction and sorrow that will befall the land. The people of Judah will face famine, sword, and disease as a result of their sins. Despite the judgment, the Lord promises that He will restore His people. He will bring them back to their land and they will once again enjoy His blessings. The nations will recognize that the Lord is the one who brought judgment upon Judah, and they will come to worship Him. The chapter ends with a reminder that the Lord knows and sees everything. He will repay each person according to their actions. The people of Judah will be held accountable for their sins, but those who repent and turn to the Lord will find mercy and forgiveness.
