Easy Bible・Jeremiah 21
Jeremiah 21:8
"Furthermore, tell the people, 'This is what the LORD says: See, I am setting before you the way of life and the way of death.
In this chapter, Jeremiah delivers a message from God to King Zedekiah of Judah. The king sends Pashhur and Zephaniah to inquire of the Lord, hoping for a favorable answer. However, God tells Jeremiah to tell the king that He will deliver Jerusalem into the hands of the king of Babylon, and that the people who remain in the city will suffer from famine, sword, and plague. Jeremiah warns the people that they should surrender to the Babylonians to save their lives. He also warns that anyone who stays in the city will face destruction and death. The chapter ends with a message to the royal house of Judah, saying that even if they were like Gilead, a place known for its healing balm, God would bring disaster upon them. This chapter serves as a reminder of the consequences of disobedience to God's commands. Despite the pleas of the king and the people, God's judgment will come upon Jerusalem. It also emphasizes the importance of obedience and surrendering to God's will, even in difficult circumstances.
