Jeremiah 44:1
This word came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews living in Lower Egypt-in Migdol, Tahpanhes and Memphis -and in Upper Egypt:

About this Chapter

Jeremiah warns the people of Judah who have settled in Egypt, reminding them of the disaster that came upon Jerusalem because of their idolatry and disobedience to God. The people refuse to listen to Jeremiah and continue to burn incense, make offerings, and worship the gods of Egypt. They claim that since they stopped worshiping the Queen of Heaven, they have faced nothing but disaster, and they believe that by worshiping her, they will have peace and prosperity. Jeremiah rebukes the people, telling them that their idolatry and disobedience to God have brought the disaster upon them. He warns them that God will punish them for their continued idol worship in Egypt, and only a remnant will survive. Despite Jeremiah's warning, the people refuse to listen and continue in their idolatrous practices.
