About this Chapter

In the thirtieth year, on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was among the exiles by the Kebar River, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God. Ezekiel, a prophet who was among the exiles in Babylon, received a vision from God in the thirtieth year, on the fifth day of the fourth month. The heavens were opened, and Ezekiel saw visions of God. This vision marked the beginning of Ezekiel's prophetic ministry. The vision Ezekiel saw was of a great storm coming from the north, with a huge cloud, flashing lightning, and brilliant light. In the center of the storm was a figure that looked like glowing metal, with fire inside it. Four living creatures, each with four faces and four wings, were also present. These creatures had the appearance of a human, a lion, an ox, and an eagle. They moved in perfect harmony, and their wings touched one another as they moved. Above the creatures was a platform with a throne, and on the throne sat a figure that appeared like a man.
