Easy Bible・Ezekiel 3
Ezekiel 3:16
At the end of seven days the word of the LORD came to me:
In Ezekiel 3, God calls Ezekiel to be a watchman for the house of Israel. The chapter begins with Ezekiel being commanded to eat a scroll that contains God's words. After eating the scroll, Ezekiel is filled with the Spirit and is sent to the people of Israel to deliver God's messages. God warns Ezekiel that the people may not listen to him, but he must still speak God's words faithfully. Ezekiel is told that he is not responsible for the people's response, but he is responsible for delivering the message. In the second part of the chapter, Ezekiel is taken by the Spirit to the exiles in Tel Aviv. There, he sits among them for seven days, overwhelmed by the weight of his mission. On the seventh day, God opens Ezekiel's mouth and he begins to speak. God tells Ezekiel that he has made him a watchman for the house of Israel, and he must warn the people of their sins. If Ezekiel fails to warn them, their blood will be on his hands. However, if he faithfully delivers God's message, he will be free from their blood. The chapter ends with God giving Ezekiel a warning. God tells him that the people will try to silence him, but he must not be afraid of them. Ezekiel is to speak God's words boldly, regardless of the people's response. God assures Ezekiel that He will make his forehead like the hardest stone, and his face like flint, so that he will not be afraid of the people. Ezekiel is to faithfully deliver God's message, even if it is difficult and unpopular.
