Easy Bible・Ezekiel 6
Ezekiel 6:6
Wherever you live, the towns will be laid waste and the high places demolished, so that your altars will be laid waste and devastated, your idols smashed and ruined, your incense altars broken down, and what you have made wiped out.
In this chapter, the Lord speaks through the prophet Ezekiel to condemn the idolatry of the Israelites and pronounce judgment upon them. The Lord declares that He will bring disaster upon the high places, altars, and idols that the people have set up to worship false gods. He will lay waste to their cities and make their sanctuaries desolate. The people will be slain by the sword, and their dead bodies will be scattered among the idols they have worshipped. The Lord's judgment is a consequence of the Israelites' persistent rebellion and refusal to turn away from their idolatrous ways. The Lord's judgment is severe, but it serves a purpose. Through this judgment, the Lord intends to make Himself known to the Israelites and the nations around them. He wants them to recognize that He is the one true God, and that their idols are powerless and worthless. The Lord's judgment is a call to repentance, an opportunity for the Israelites to turn back to Him and forsake their idolatry. As we reflect on this chapter, we are reminded of the importance of worshiping the true God and not putting our trust in false gods or idols. We are called to examine our own hearts and lives, to see if there are any idols that we have allowed to take the place of God. May we always remember that the Lord is a jealous God who desires our wholehearted devotion and worship.
