Ezekiel 10:18
Then the glory of the LORD departed from over the threshold of the temple and stopped above the cherubim.
In this chapter, Ezekiel witnesses the departure of the glory of the Lord from the temple. He sees the cherubim, which are angelic beings, lift their wings and rise from the earth. The glory of the Lord then moves from the threshold of the temple to the entrance of the east gate. As the glory of the Lord departs, the sound of their wings is heard throughout the temple. The cherubim are described as having four faces - the face of a cherub, a human face, a lion face, and an eagle face. Each cherub has four wings, and their wings touch one another. They move together in harmony, following the Spirit of God wherever it goes. This vision symbolizes God's departure from the temple due to the idolatry and sinfulness of the people of Israel. The departure of God's glory signifies His judgment and the removal of His presence from among His people. It is a solemn reminder of the consequences of disobedience and the need for repentance.
