About this Chapter

In this chapter, God speaks to the prophet Ezekiel about Jerusalem, comparing the city to an abandoned baby that He found and cared for. God recounts how He took care of Jerusalem, cleansing her and clothing her with fine garments. He made a covenant with her and she became His. However, Jerusalem forgot God's kindness and turned to idolatry, offering her children as sacrifices to false gods. God expresses His anger and judgment towards Jerusalem for her unfaithfulness, comparing her to a prostitute who sells herself to anyone who passes by. He says that He will bring judgment upon her and expose her nakedness to all who have known her shame. However, despite her unfaithfulness, God promises to remember His covenant with Jerusalem and restore her in the future. This chapter serves as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness towards His people, even in the face of their disobedience. It also serves as a warning against idolatry and the consequences of turning away from God. Despite Jerusalem's unfaithfulness, God's love and mercy are always available for those who repent and turn back to Him.
