Ezekiel 19:1
"Take up a lament concerning the princes of Israel

About this Chapter

This chapter is a lamentation for Israel's princes, comparing them to a lioness and her cubs. The lioness represents the nation of Israel, and her cubs represent the princes who were taken captive by the Babylonians. The first cub, representing Jehoahaz, was taken captive and brought to Egypt. Despite being raised in Egypt, he did not become a strong lion and was eventually brought back to Babylon in chains. The second cub, representing Jehoiakim, was also taken captive by the Babylonians. He was like a strong lion, ruling over Judah with cruelty and violence. However, he was also captured and brought to Babylon, where he died in disgrace.
