About this Chapter

In this chapter, the prophet Ezekiel delivers a message from God to the king of Tyre, condemning his pride and arrogance. The king of Tyre is compared to a beautiful and wise being who was in the garden of Eden, adorned with precious stones. However, because of his pride, he will be brought down and destroyed. The king of Tyre is described as being full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. He was in Eden, the garden of God, and was adorned with every precious stone. He was an anointed guardian cherub, but his heart became proud because of his beauty and corrupted his wisdom. As a result, he will be cast out of the mountain of God and brought to destruction. The Lord declares that He will bring foreign nations against the king of Tyre, who will draw their swords against him and bring him down. The king of Tyre will die a violent death and be consumed by fire. Through his destruction, God will make His holiness known to all the nations.
