About this Chapter

In this chapter, Ezekiel prophesies about the downfall of Egypt. He starts by predicting that the day of the Lord is near and that Egypt will face a time of great distress. The Lord will bring various nations against Egypt, and there will be a lot of destruction and bloodshed. The land will be desolate, and the cities will be in ruins. The pride of Egypt will be brought down, and the people will be scattered among the nations. Ezekiel mentions that the Lord will also bring judgment upon the idols of Egypt, and the false gods will be destroyed. The Egyptians will know that the Lord is the true God, and they will realize that their idols were powerless to save them. This judgment upon Egypt is a result of their rebellion and their reliance on false gods. However, even in the midst of this judgment, the Lord promises to restore Egypt in the future. He says that Egypt will be a lowly kingdom and will never again exalt itself over the nations. But the Lord will make them a weak nation, and they will never again rule over other nations. Yet, they will still exist as a nation, and the Lord will bless them. This restoration is a sign of God's mercy and grace, even towards a nation that had rebelled against Him.
