Easy Bible・Ezekiel 37
Ezekiel 37:1
The hand of the LORD was upon me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones.
In this chapter, the prophet Ezekiel is taken by the Spirit of the Lord to a valley full of dry bones. God asks Ezekiel if the bones can live, and Ezekiel can only respond with uncertainty. Then, God commands Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones, saying that He will make breath enter them and they will come to life. As Ezekiel prophesies, the bones come together, flesh and skin cover them, but they still lack breath. Then, God commands Ezekiel to prophesy to the breath, and the breath enters the bodies, making them alive once again. This vision of the valley of dry bones represents the restoration of Israel. The bones symbolize the people of Israel who have been exiled and scattered, feeling hopeless and lifeless. God promises to restore them and bring them back to their land. He will put His Spirit in them, and they will live again as a united nation. This vision is a reminder that no matter how hopeless a situation may seem, God has the power to bring life and restoration. As believers, we can also find hope in this vision. It reminds us that even in our darkest moments, God can breathe life into our dry and lifeless situations. He can bring healing, restoration, and renewal. Just as He restored the dry bones to life, He can restore our brokenness and breathe new life into us. We can trust in His power and His promises, knowing that He is able to bring life out of death.
