Easy Bible・Ezekiel 44
Ezekiel 44:4
Then the man brought me by way of the north gate to the front of the temple. I looked and saw the glory of the LORD filling the temple of the LORD, and I fell facedown.
In this chapter, Ezekiel receives a vision from the Lord regarding the priests and the temple. The Lord tells Ezekiel that the eastern gate of the temple, which had been closed, will now be opened because the Lord's glory will enter through it. However, no one who is uncircumcised in heart or flesh will be allowed to enter the temple or serve as priests. The Levites who turned away from the Lord and followed idols will bear the consequences of their actions and will not be allowed to come near the Lord. The Lord also gives specific instructions to the priests regarding their duties and responsibilities. They are to serve as gatekeepers, offering sacrifices and ministering to the people. They are to wear linen garments and not to wear anything that causes sweat, which symbolizes their consecration to the Lord. They are to teach the people the difference between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean. Furthermore, the Lord promises that the priests will have a portion of the land as their inheritance, and they are not to oppress the people or take their possessions unjustly. The priests are to be a blessing to the people and to bring the offerings of the people before the Lord. They are to be faithful in their service and to keep the Lord's commands.
