Daniel 5:5
Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote.

About this Chapter

In Daniel 5, King Belshazzar of Babylon held a great feast and used the gold and silver vessels taken from the temple in Jerusalem to drink wine. Suddenly, a hand appeared and wrote on the wall. The king was terrified and called for his wise men to interpret the writing, but none of them could. The queen then suggested calling Daniel, a man who had the spirit of the holy gods within him. Daniel was brought before the king, and he explained that the writing on the wall was a message from God. It said that God had numbered the days of Belshazzar's kingdom and that it was coming to an end. That very night, Babylon was invaded and the king was killed. The empire fell to the Medes and Persians, just as Daniel had interpreted. This chapter serves as a reminder of God's sovereignty and His judgment. Despite the power and wealth of Babylon, God showed that He was in control and could bring down even the mightiest of kingdoms. It also highlights the importance of humility and reverence towards God, as Belshazzar's pride and disrespect towards the sacred vessels led to his downfall.
