Easy Bible・Hosea 10
Hosea 10:12
Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you.
In Hosea 10, God pronounces judgment against Israel for their idolatry and disobedience. The people of Israel have been sowing wickedness and reaping injustice, and their hearts are deceitful. They have trusted in their own strength and wealth, but God declares that He will destroy their altars and idols, and punish them for their sins. However, even in the midst of judgment, God calls His people to repentance. He urges them to break up their unplowed ground and seek the Lord, so that He may come and shower His righteousness upon them. This chapter also highlights the consequences of Israel's sin. The calf-idol of Samaria will be destroyed, and the people will mourn over its loss. They will be carried off to Assyria as captives, and their false gods will be useless in saving them. The chapter ends with a plea for the people of Israel to acknowledge their guilt and return to the Lord, for only He can truly save them. The message of Hosea 10 teaches us the importance of turning away from our sins and seeking the Lord. It reminds us that relying on our own strength and idols will only lead to destruction and captivity. Instead, we are called to humble ourselves, acknowledge our guilt, and seek God's forgiveness and righteousness. Through repentance, we can experience the restoration and salvation that only God can provide.
