Obadiah 1:1
The vision of Obadiah. This is what the Sovereign LORD says about Edom- We have heard a message from the LORD: An envoy was sent to the nations to say, "Rise, and let us go against her for battle"-
The book of Obadiah is a prophecy against the nation of Edom, which was a neighboring nation to Israel. The prophecy speaks of the judgment that will come upon Edom for their pride and violence against Israel. The key verse in this chapter is Obadiah 1:4, which says, 'Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,' declares the LORD. This verse symbolizes the pride and arrogance of Edom, and God's promise to bring them down from their lofty position. The book of Obadiah serves as a reminder that God sees and judges the actions of nations. It also highlights the consequences of pride and mistreatment of God's people. Ultimately, it points to the sovereignty and justice of God, who will bring judgment upon those who oppose His plans.
