Easy Bible・Haggai 2
Haggai 2:9
'The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,' says the LORD Almighty. 'And in this place I will grant peace,' declares the LORD Almighty."
In this chapter, Haggai speaks to the remnant of people who have returned from exile in Babylon and encourages them to be strong and not to be discouraged. He reminds them that the glory of the new temple will surpass the glory of the former temple, even though it may not seem as grand or magnificent. God promises to fill this temple with His glory and bring peace to the people. Haggai also addresses the issue of impurity and explains that holiness is not contagious, but uncleanness is. He emphasizes the importance of obedience and encourages the people to seek God's favor through righteousness. He assures them that God will bless them and make them prosper. In the final part of the chapter, Haggai delivers a message from God to Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah, declaring that He will overthrow kingdoms and bring about the ultimate victory of His kingdom. Zerubbabel is chosen as a signet ring, symbolizing his authority and God's support for him.
