Easy Bible・Zechariah 1
Zechariah 1:3
Therefore tell the people: This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Return to me,' declares the LORD Almighty, 'and I will return to you,' says the LORD Almighty.
In this chapter, the prophet Zechariah receives a message from the Lord to call the people of Israel to repentance and to return to Him. The Lord tells Zechariah to say to the people, 'Return to me, and I will return to you.' The people had turned away from the Lord and were facing the consequences of their disobedience. The Lord also reminds the people of the consequences that their ancestors faced for not listening to the prophets. He says, 'Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says: 'Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.' But they would not listen or pay attention to me,' declares the Lord. The chapter ends with a vision that Zechariah sees during the night. He sees a man riding a red horse among the myrtle trees in a ravine. Behind him are other horses, red, brown, and white. These horses represent the angels that the Lord has sent to patrol the earth and report what they see. They bring back a report of peace and tranquility to the Lord.
