Easy Bible・Zechariah 3
Zechariah 3:8
"'Listen, O high priest Joshua and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.
In Zechariah 3, the prophet sees a vision of the high priest Joshua standing before the angel of the Lord, with Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. The Lord rebukes Satan and chooses to remove Joshua's filthy clothes and replace them with rich garments, symbolizing the forgiveness of his sins. Joshua is then given a clean turban, symbolizing the restoration of his priestly authority. The angel of the Lord then gives Joshua a charge, saying that if he walks in the ways of the Lord and keeps His requirements, he will govern the Lord's house and have access to the heavenly courts. The angel also speaks of a future Branch who will come and remove the sin of the land in a single day. This vision of Joshua and the promise of the coming Branch reminds us that God is the one who forgives and restores. It shows us that even when we are accused and burdened by our sins, God is ready to cleanse us and give us a fresh start. It also points to Jesus, the ultimate High Priest and the Branch who came to remove our sins through His sacrifice on the cross.
