So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.

About this Chapter

In Zechariah 4, the prophet sees a vision of a golden lampstand with seven lamps and two olive trees. The angel explains that the lampstand represents the presence of God, and the olive trees represent two anointed ones who serve Him. The angel also tells Zechariah that it is not by might or power, but by the Spirit of God that the work will be accomplished. This chapter reminds us that it is not our own strength or abilities that bring about success, but it is the power of God's Spirit working in and through us. Just as the lampstand needs oil from the olive trees to give light, we need the Holy Spirit to empower us and guide us in fulfilling God's purposes. When we rely on God's Spirit, even the seemingly impossible tasks can be accomplished. We are reminded to trust in God's power and not to be discouraged by obstacles or challenges. As we surrender ourselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit, He will equip us and enable us to do what He has called us to do.
