Zechariah 5:1
I looked again-and there before me was a flying scroll!

About this Chapter

In this chapter, Zechariah sees a flying scroll that represents a curse. The scroll is written on both sides, containing the words of the Lord's curse against thieves and perjurers. Then, he sees a woman sitting in a basket, which represents wickedness. The woman is then taken to the land of Shinar, symbolizing the removal of wickedness from the land. The flying scroll reminds us that God's judgment will come upon those who engage in dishonesty and falsehood. It serves as a warning to the people of Israel to turn away from such sins and seek righteousness. The woman in the basket represents the wickedness that will be removed from the land, signifying God's desire to cleanse His people from evil. As we study this chapter, let us reflect on the importance of living a life of integrity and righteousness. May we strive to be honest in our dealings and truthful in our words, knowing that God's judgment will come upon those who practice deceit. Let us also remember that God desires to remove wickedness from our lives and purify us, so that we may be a holy people dedicated to His service.
