Zechariah 6:1
I looked up again-and there before me were four chariots coming out from between two mountains-mountains of bronze!

About this Chapter

In this vision, Zechariah sees four chariots coming out from between two mountains of bronze. The first chariot is pulled by red horses, the second by black horses, the third by white horses, and the fourth by dappled horses. These chariots represent the four spirits of heaven, which have been sent out to patrol the earth. The angel explains to Zechariah that the chariots are going to and fro throughout the earth, and they have given rest to God's spirit. Then, the angel instructs Zechariah to take silver and gold from the exiles who have returned from Babylon, and make a crown to set on the head of Joshua the high priest. This crown symbolizes the coming of the Branch, who will rebuild the temple of the Lord and rule with justice and peace. The Lord declares that Joshua will be a priest on his throne, and the harmony between the two roles will be a sign of the coming of the Branch. Those who are far away will come and help in the rebuilding of the temple, and the glory of the Lord will fill the temple. This vision reminds us of God's judgment and restoration, as he sends out his spirits to patrol the earth and promises the coming of the Branch to bring peace and justice.
