Zechariah 12:10
"And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.

About this Chapter

In this chapter, Zechariah prophesies about the future repentance and salvation of Jerusalem. The chapter begins with a declaration that God will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling and a burdensome stone for all the surrounding nations. The people of Jerusalem will be strengthened by the Lord, and they will defeat their enemies. The Lord will pour out His Spirit of grace and supplication on the people of Jerusalem, and they will look on Him whom they have pierced and mourn for Him. God will bring a great mourning to Jerusalem, as if mourning for an only son. The mourning will be deep and sincere, with each family and tribe mourning separately. On that day, a fountain will be opened for the people of Jerusalem to cleanse them from sin and impurity. The idols and false prophets will be banished from the land, and the people will no longer remember them. In that day, God will protect and strengthen the people of Jerusalem, and they will be victorious over their enemies. The surrounding nations will be struck with confusion and fear, as they realize that God is with His people. The people of Jerusalem will be filled with strength and courage, and they will fight against their enemies. God will save His people, and they will dwell securely in Jerusalem.
