Matthew 2:1
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem

About this Chapter

In this chapter, we see the visit of the Magi, also known as the Wise Men, to Jerusalem to inquire about the newborn king of the Jews. They had seen his star in the east and came to worship him. King Herod and all of Jerusalem were disturbed by this news. Herod secretly met with the Magi and asked them to find the child and report back to him so that he could also go and worship him. The Magi followed the star and found Jesus in Bethlehem. They presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. However, warned in a dream not to return to Herod, the Magi returned to their country by another route. Joseph was also warned in a dream to flee to Egypt with Mary and Jesus to escape Herod's wrath.
