About this Chapter

In Matthew 6, Jesus teaches his disciples how to pray, giving them what is now known as the Lord's Prayer. He emphasizes the importance of sincerity and not using empty phrases when praying. Jesus also teaches about fasting and giving to the needy, encouraging his followers to do these acts of righteousness with a pure heart and without seeking recognition from others. He warns against storing up treasures on earth, but rather encourages seeking God's kingdom and relying on His provision. Jesus reminds his disciples not to worry about their basic needs, such as food and clothing, because God knows what they need and will provide for them. Instead, he encourages them to seek first God's kingdom and righteousness, trusting that all these things will be given to them as well. Jesus concludes by advising his followers not to worry about tomorrow, but to focus on living faithfully each day.
