About this Chapter

In Matthew 17, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, where He is transfigured before them. His face shines like the sun, and His clothes become as white as light. Moses and Elijah appear and talk with Jesus. Peter suggests building three shelters for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah, but a voice from heaven interrupts, saying, 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!' This event reveals Jesus' divine glory and confirms His identity as the Son of God. The presence of Moses and Elijah represents the Law and the Prophets, affirming that Jesus is the fulfillment of both. Peter's desire to build shelters indicates his desire to prolong the experience, but God emphasizes the importance of listening to Jesus. This extraordinary event strengthens the disciples' faith and prepares them for the challenges ahead.
