Matthew 20:1
"For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire men to work in his vineyard.
In this chapter, Jesus tells a parable to teach about the kingdom of heaven. He compares the kingdom of heaven to a landowner who hired workers for his vineyard. The landowner hired workers at different times of the day, but at the end of the day, he paid all the workers the same amount. This parable teaches us that in the kingdom of heaven, God's grace is available to everyone, regardless of when they come to believe in Jesus. Additionally, Jesus predicts his death and resurrection for the third time in this chapter. He tells his disciples that he will be handed over to the chief priests and teachers of the law, who will condemn him to death. However, on the third day, he will be raised to life. This shows Jesus' willingness to sacrifice himself for the salvation of all people. Lastly, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approach Jesus and ask to sit at his right and left hand in his kingdom. Jesus explains that it is not his to grant, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by his Father. This teaches us that positions of honor and authority in the kingdom of heaven are determined by God, not by human ambition or favoritism.
