About this Chapter

In Matthew 21, Jesus enters Jerusalem riding on a donkey, fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah. The crowds welcome him by spreading their cloaks and palm branches on the road, shouting 'Hosanna to the Son of David!' Jesus then enters the temple and drives out the money changers and those buying and selling. He overturns the tables, saying, 'My house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of robbers.' Afterward, Jesus heals the blind and the lame in the temple, and the children praise him, saying 'Hosanna to the Son of David!' The chief priests and the teachers of the law become indignant, but Jesus defends the children, saying, 'From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise.'
