Matthew 25:1
"At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
In this chapter, Jesus tells two parables to teach his disciples about the importance of being prepared and faithful. The first parable is about ten virgins who were waiting for the bridegroom to come. Five of them were wise and brought extra oil for their lamps, while the other five were foolish and did not. When the bridegroom arrived, the wise virgins were ready and went in to the wedding banquet, but the foolish virgins were left outside. The second parable is about a master who entrusted his servants with different amounts of money, or talents, before going away. Two of the servants invested and multiplied their talents, while one servant buried his talent out of fear. When the master returned, he rewarded the faithful servants but punished the unfaithful one. These parables teach us that we need to be prepared and faithful while we wait for the return of Jesus. Just like the wise virgins who had extra oil, we should be spiritually prepared and ready for his coming. We should also use the gifts and talents that God has given us to serve him and others, instead of burying them out of fear or laziness. God has entrusted us with these gifts, and he expects us to use them wisely and multiply them for his glory. These parables also remind us that there will be a day of judgment when Jesus returns. Those who are prepared and faithful will enter into the joy of the Lord, while those who are unprepared and unfaithful will be left outside. Therefore, let us be vigilant, always ready and faithful, so that we may receive the reward of eternal life when Jesus comes again.
