Mark 6:1
Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples.

About this Chapter

In this chapter, Jesus returns to his hometown of Nazareth and teaches in the synagogue. However, the people there are amazed at his wisdom and miracles, but they reject him because they cannot accept that someone they have known since childhood could be the Messiah. Jesus then sends out his disciples in pairs to preach and heal, giving them authority over impure spirits. He instructs them to rely on the hospitality of others and to shake the dust off their feet if they are not welcomed. Meanwhile, King Herod hears about Jesus and his miracles, and he becomes fearful. This is because some people were saying that Jesus is John the Baptist raised from the dead, whom Herod had beheaded. Herod's guilt and fear lead him to believe in superstitions rather than recognizing Jesus as the Son of God.
