Easy Bible・Mark 7
Mark 7:8
You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."
In Mark 7, Jesus confronts the religious leaders about their emphasis on external rituals and traditions, rather than true worship from the heart. He quotes Isaiah, saying, 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.' Jesus teaches that it is not what goes into a person that defiles them, but what comes out of their heart. Jesus explains that it is the evil thoughts, actions, and attitudes that come from within a person that truly defile them. He emphasizes the importance of purity and righteousness, not just outwardly, but also inwardly. He urges the people to focus on their hearts and to worship God in spirit and truth. Jesus challenges the religious leaders' traditions and calls them out for neglecting the commandments of God in order to hold on to their own traditions. He warns against following man-made rules and traditions that can lead people astray from the true worship of God. Jesus teaches that true worship is about having a genuine relationship with God and living according to His commandments.
