Mark 13:1
As he was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent buildings!"

About this Chapter

In Mark 13, Jesus and his disciples were leaving the temple when one of his disciples commented on the magnificent buildings. Jesus then predicted that not one stone of the temple would be left on another, and the disciples asked him when this would happen and what would be the signs of the end of the age. Jesus warned them of false messiahs who would come claiming to be him, wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, famines, and persecution. He told them that these things were just the beginning of birth pains. He also spoke about the abomination that causes desolation and advised them to flee when they see it. Jesus emphasized the importance of staying alert and not being deceived. He said that no one knows the day or hour when the end will come, not even the angels or the Son, only the Father. He encouraged his disciples to keep watch, be ready, and be faithful until the end.
