Key Passages

Mark 15:33
At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.

About this Chapter

In Mark 15, Jesus is crucified and dies on the cross. At noon, darkness covers the land for three hours, and at the ninth hour, Jesus cries out, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?' Then he breathes his last breath. Jesus' crucifixion is the ultimate act of love and sacrifice. Through his death, he takes upon himself the punishment for our sins, offering us forgiveness and eternal life. The darkness that covers the land symbolizes the weight of sin and the separation between God and humanity. Jesus' cry of abandonment reflects the immense suffering he endured, bearing the weight of our sins on the cross. As we reflect on Jesus' crucifixion, we are reminded of the depth of God's love for us and the incredible price he paid for our redemption. It is through Jesus' death and resurrection that we find hope, forgiveness, and salvation. May we always remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us and live in gratitude and obedience to him.
