About this Chapter

Luke chapter 2 tells the story of the birth of Jesus. It starts with Joseph and Mary traveling to Bethlehem for the census. When they arrived, there was no room for them in the inn, so they had to stay in a stable. In that same region, there were shepherds watching over their flocks at night. Suddenly, an angel appeared to the shepherds and announced the good news of the birth of a Savior. The angel told them that they would find the baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Then, a great company of heavenly hosts appeared, praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.' The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found Mary, Joseph, and the baby, just as the angel had said. They spread the word about what they had seen and heard, and everyone who heard it was amazed. Mary treasured all these things in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen.
