Easy Bible・Luke 9
Luke 9:23
Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
In Luke 9, Jesus tells his disciples that whoever wants to be his follower must deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow him. He explains that whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for his sake will save it. Jesus then takes Peter, James, and John up a mountain, where he is transfigured before them. Moses and Elijah appear, and a voice from heaven declares Jesus as God's Son. After this, Jesus heals a demon-possessed boy that his disciples were unable to heal. As Jesus continues his journey, he tells his disciples that he will be betrayed, suffer, and be killed, but will rise again on the third day. He teaches them about humility, saying that the one who is least among them is the greatest. He also sends out his disciples to proclaim the kingdom of God and perform miracles.
