Easy Bible・Luke 12
Luke 12:22
Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.
In Luke 12, Jesus teaches his disciples about the importance of not worrying and trusting in God. He starts by telling them not to worry about their life, what they will eat or wear, because life is more than food and clothing. Jesus reminds them that God takes care of the birds and the flowers, and if he provides for them, how much more will he provide for his children. He then tells them to seek God's kingdom above all else, and all their needs will be taken care of. Jesus also warns his disciples about the dangers of greed and materialism. He tells them a parable of a rich man who stored up all his possessions, thinking that he had plenty of time to enjoy his wealth. However, God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?' Jesus teaches that life does not consist in the abundance of possessions, and warns against being consumed by the desire for wealth. Furthermore, Jesus encourages his disciples to be ready and watchful for his return. He compares his coming to that of a thief in the night, emphasizing the need for constant readiness. Jesus reminds them that those who are faithful and wise will be blessed, while those who are not prepared will face severe consequences. He concludes by saying that much will be required from those to whom much is given, and that his disciples should always be ready to give an account of their stewardship.
