About this Chapter

In this chapter, Jesus teaches his disciples about the coming of the kingdom of God. He tells them that the kingdom of God does not come with observation, but is within them. He also warns them about false messiahs and false prophets who will try to deceive people with signs and wonders. Jesus then speaks about the days of Noah and Lot, emphasizing the importance of being ready for the coming judgment. He warns that on the day when the Son of Man is revealed, it will be like in the days of Noah and Lot, when people were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, and building, unaware of the impending destruction. Jesus concludes by giving his disciples instructions on how to respond when they witness the coming judgment. He tells them that whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for his sake will preserve it. He also emphasizes the importance of being watchful and ready for his return, comparing it to the sudden disappearance of one person and the gathering of vultures where there is a carcass.
