Easy Bible・Luke 20
Luke 20:9
He went on to tell the people this parable: "A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time.
In Luke 20, Jesus tells the Parable of the Tenants. He shares a story about a man who planted a vineyard and rented it out to some farmers. When the owner sent his servants to collect the fruit, the tenants beat them and sent them away empty-handed. Finally, the owner sent his beloved son, thinking they would respect him, but the tenants killed him. Jesus then asks the listeners what the owner will do to those tenants, and they respond that the owner will put them to death and give the vineyard to others. This parable is a metaphor for the relationship between God and the religious leaders of that time. The owner represents God, the vineyard represents Israel, the tenants represent the religious leaders, and the servants represent the prophets. Despite God's constant love and provision, the religious leaders rejected His messengers and ultimately rejected His Son, Jesus. Through this parable, Jesus warns the religious leaders about the consequences of their actions and their rejection of Him as the Messiah. It also serves as a reminder for us today to examine our own hearts and ensure that we are not rejecting Jesus in any way. Just as the owner gave the vineyard to others, God's grace and salvation are available to all who believe in Jesus and accept Him as their Lord and Savior.
