Easy Bible・Luke 21
Luke 21:5
Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said,
In Luke 21, Jesus predicts the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. As he was teaching in the temple, some people were admiring the beautiful stones and decorations of the temple. However, Jesus tells them that the temple will be completely destroyed, not leaving one stone upon another. The disciples then ask Jesus when this will happen and what will be the signs of the end times. Jesus warns them of false messiahs who will come claiming to be him, wars and uprisings, earthquakes, famines, and plagues. He tells them that they will face persecution and be brought before kings and governors because of their faith. Jesus encourages his disciples not to worry or be anxious when these things happen, but to trust in God and rely on the Holy Spirit for the words to speak. He assures them that not a hair of their head will perish and that their endurance will lead to their salvation.
