Easy Bible・John 4
John 4:7
When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, "Will you give me a drink?"
In John 4, Jesus and his disciples were traveling through Samaria. They arrived at a well in a Samaritan town called Sychar. Jesus, tired from the journey, sat down by the well while his disciples went into town to buy food. A Samaritan woman came to draw water from the well, and Jesus asked her for a drink. The woman was surprised that Jesus, a Jew, would ask her, a Samaritan, for a drink because Jews and Samaritans did not associate with each other. Jesus then told the woman that if she knew who he was, she would have asked him for living water. He explained that whoever drinks the water he gives will never thirst again, for it will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life. The woman, intrigued by Jesus' offer, asked him for this living water. Jesus then revealed that he knew about her past and revealed himself to be the Messiah. The woman left her water jar and went back to the town, telling the people about Jesus. Many Samaritans believed in Jesus because of the woman's testimony, and they invited Jesus to stay with them for two days.
