John 6:1
Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias),
In John 6, Jesus performs a miraculous sign by feeding a large crowd of five thousand people with only five loaves of bread and two fish. The people were amazed and recognized Jesus as the Prophet who was to come into the world. After this miracle, Jesus withdrew to a mountain by himself because he knew that the people wanted to make him their king. The next day, the crowd found Jesus on the other side of the lake and asked him when he had arrived there. Jesus used this opportunity to teach them about the true bread from heaven, which is himself. Jesus explained that he is the bread of life and that whoever comes to him will never be hungry or thirsty. He emphasized the importance of believing in him and his words, for he has the power to give eternal life. Some of the people found this teaching difficult to accept and many of his disciples turned away from him. However, Peter affirmed his faith in Jesus, saying, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.'
