Easy Bible・John 8
John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
In John 8, Jesus declares himself as the light of the world and teaches about the truth that sets people free. He encounters the religious leaders who bring a woman caught in adultery to him, and he challenges them to examine their own hearts before passing judgment. Jesus also confronts the Pharisees, who claim to be Abraham's descendants and followers of God, but he exposes their hypocrisy and reveals that their true father is the devil. He explains that if they truly believed in him and followed his teachings, they would know the truth and be set free from sin. As the chapter progresses, Jesus speaks about his relationship with the Father, his authority, and his role in bringing salvation to humanity. He declares that before Abraham was born, he existed, affirming his divine nature. The chapter ends with the religious leaders picking up stones to stone Jesus, but he escapes from their grasp.
