Easy Bible・John 15
John 15:4
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
In John 15, Jesus teaches his disciples about the importance of remaining in him. He uses the analogy of a vine and its branches to illustrate this concept. Jesus says that he is the true vine and his Father is the gardener. As branches, the disciples are called to remain in Jesus, just as a branch can only bear fruit if it remains attached to the vine. Jesus emphasizes the significance of abiding in him by stating that apart from him, the disciples can do nothing. He explains that just as a branch cannot bear fruit by itself, neither can they bear fruit unless they remain in him. However, if they do abide in him, they will bear much fruit and bring glory to God. Jesus also warns his disciples about the consequences of not abiding in him. He says that branches that do not bear fruit will be cut off and thrown into the fire. On the other hand, those who remain in him and bear fruit will be pruned by the Father to bear even more fruit. Jesus encourages his disciples to abide in his love and keep his commandments, so that they may experience the fullness of joy.
