Easy Bible・John 19
John 19:16
Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.
In this chapter, Jesus is handed over to be crucified by Pilate, the Roman governor. Despite finding no guilt in Jesus, Pilate gives in to the demands of the Jewish leaders and allows Jesus to be crucified. Jesus is then led away to be crucified, carrying his own cross. At the place called Golgotha, Jesus is crucified between two criminals. The soldiers divide his clothes and cast lots for his seamless robe. Above Jesus' head on the cross is a sign that reads, 'Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.' Jesus' mother, Mary, and the disciple whom Jesus loved, likely John, are present at the crucifixion. Before he dies, Jesus entrusts the care of his mother to the disciple, and the disciple takes her into his home.
