Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In this chapter, the apostle Paul explains that when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, we die to sin and are raised to new life in Him. He emphasizes that we are no longer slaves to sin, but rather we have been set free from its power. Paul reminds us that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Paul encourages believers to live in the freedom they have received, not using it as an excuse to continue sinning, but rather offering themselves to God as instruments of righteousness. He explains that just as we were once slaves to sin, we are now slaves to righteousness. Through our union with Christ, we have the power to overcome sin and live a life that pleases God. Paul concludes the chapter by reminding us that the ultimate outcome of a life lived in sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. He urges us to choose righteousness and to walk in the newness of life that we have received through Jesus Christ.
