I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church in Cenchrea.

About this Chapter

In Romans 16, Paul concludes his letter by sending greetings to various individuals in the church in Rome. He mentions Phoebe, a deaconess from the church in Cenchreae, and asks the Romans to welcome her and assist her in any way she may need. Paul also sends greetings to Priscilla and Aquila, his fellow workers in Christ, who risked their lives for him. He mentions many other individuals by name, including Mary, Andronicus, Junia, and others, commending them for their hard work and dedication to the Lord. Paul then gives some final instructions to the Romans, urging them to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the teaching they have learned. He encourages them to be wise and innocent concerning evil, and assures them that God will soon crush Satan under their feet. Paul concludes his letter by praising God for his wisdom and glory, and by sending greetings on behalf of his fellow workers. He emphasizes the importance of unity among believers and encourages the Romans to be on guard against false teachers. He reminds them that God is able to strengthen them and establish them in the faith. Paul ends with a doxology, giving glory to God who is able to establish them according to the gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ.
