1 Corinthians 3:16
Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?

About this Chapter

In this chapter, Paul addresses the Corinthians' spiritual immaturity and divisions within the church. He reminds them that they are God's field and God's building, and that they should not boast about following certain leaders, but rather focus on unity in Christ. Paul emphasizes that the foundation of the church is Jesus Christ, and warns against building on any other foundation. He also teaches that believers are the temple of God, and that the Holy Spirit dwells in them. Paul urges the Corinthians to be wise in their conduct and not to be deceived by worldly wisdom. Paul then explains that there are different levels of spiritual maturity among believers. He compares them to infants who need milk and cannot handle solid food. He encourages them to grow in their faith and knowledge of God, and not to remain immature. Paul also warns against jealousy and quarreling, as these are signs of worldly thinking and not of the Spirit. In the final part of the chapter, Paul reminds the Corinthians that everything belongs to them, whether it is Paul, Apollos, or the world itself. He encourages them to live in a way that honors God and to remember that they are God's temple. Paul concludes by warning them to not deceive themselves, for God sees and knows everything.
