Easy Bible・1 Corinthians 13
1 Corinthians 13:4
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
In this chapter, the apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of love in the life of a believer. He describes the characteristics of love, highlighting its selflessness, patience, kindness, and lack of envy or boasting. Love is not proud or rude, and it does not seek its own interests. Love is not easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs. Instead, love rejoices in the truth and always protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres. Paul contrasts the temporary nature of spiritual gifts and knowledge with the eternal nature of love. He explains that even if someone has great faith, the ability to speak in tongues, or the gift of prophecy, without love, it is all meaningless. Love is the greatest of all virtues and should be the foundation of everything we do. Paul concludes the chapter by affirming that love never fails. While prophecies, tongues, and knowledge will eventually cease, love will remain forever. Love is the enduring quality that should guide our actions and relationships. It is the most excellent way to live.
