Paul explains that he had written a previous letter to the Corinthians with the intention of testing their obedience and to see if they would stand firm in their faith. He expresses his joy upon hearing that the majority of the Corinthians had repented and taken action to address the issue. Paul then urges them to reaffirm their love for the offender and forgive him, so that Satan may not outwit them. Paul concludes the chapter by sharing his own experience of forgiving the offender.
